PATRICK’S DAY AT FONTARRON SCHOOL
St.
Patrick’s Day is celebrated on 17th
March. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. It’s a festivity
of the Catholic religion.
Typical
activities for this day are going to church in the morning and
parades in the afternoon with costumes, music and dance. On this day
you can see typical elements of the Irish culture.
One
of them is the beautiful shamrock.
A four leaved shamrock means good luck!!!
Another
one is a magical character, the leprechaun.
It is an old man
with a ginger beard and a green hat. It is thought to have a pot of
gold which you can find at the end of the rainbow.
We
learned a little bit about this Irish festivity and teachers painted
our faces with shamrocks and Irish flags. We wore green clothes and cardboard
shamrocks.
EL DÍA DE
SAN PATRICIO EN EL COLEGIO FONTARRON
El día de
San Patricio se celebra el 17 de marzo. San Patricio es el patrón de
Irlanda. Es una festividad de
la religión católica.
Típicas
actividades de este día son ir a la iglesia por la mañana y
desfiles por la tarde, con disfraces, música y baile. En este día
pueden verse elementos típicos de la cultura irlandesa.
Uno de ellos
es el bonito trébol.
Un trébol de cuatro hojas da buena suerte.
Otro es un
personaje mágico, el leprechaun.
Es un anciano con
barba pelirroja y sombrero verde. Se dice
que tiene un caldero lleno de monedas de oro que puede encontrarse al
final del arco iris.
Aprendimos
un poco sobre esta festividad irlandesa y los profesores nos pintaron
la cara con tréboles y banderas irlandesas. Nos vestimos de verde y
nos pusimos tréboles en la solapa.
